About The Trip

The Bixby History Trip began in 2008 and is a unique opportunity for Bixby students and parents to watch US History come to life! It is a 7 night / 8 day tour of Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, & Washington, D.C. Along the way we visit and experience places like: The Old North Church, Fenway Park, Boston Commons, the Lexington & Concord battlefields, Harvard, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway, 5th Avenue, the Empire State Building, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Washington Monument, Lincoln Monument, Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, White House, US Capitol Building, Holocaust Museum, National Archives, and much more! While not an official school group, the trip is organized by Bixby Middle School teachers, Catherine Woods and Sherry Girard. All of our chaperons are Bixby teachers, counselors, and administrators and all of the students who travel are Bixby 8th graders.

Since 2008 we’ve been fine-tuning our itinerary for our students. We work closely with our travel company, EF Explore America, to ensure a safe, fun, and educational week for our students. Our flights and hotels are with national, reputable companies. Ground transportation in our destination cities is aboard comfortable, air conditioned charter buses. When we arrive in Boston we greet our EF Tour Directors who stay with us throughout the entire trip to make sure everything runs smoothly and assist us with any bumps along the way. Each night we have a security guard on each hotel floor we occupy to ensure everyone’s safety. We hope you’ll explore this site as well as our Facebook page. Please email Catherine Woods at cwoods@bixbyps.org with any questions. Thanks for visiting!

  1. This opportunity is so amazing for these students and I am so thankful for teachers lik you who take the class out of the classroom for a tangible experience. We have watched our friends and neighbors kids go on this trip and are filled with tales to tell with excitement for American history because they saw it! Thank you for continued support of our kids education and delivery of up close and personal experience with history.

  2. Thank you so much, Jennifer! We appreciate your kind words 🙂 It’s truly our pleasure. We have fantastic kiddos here in Bixby and we have almost as much fun as our kids do!
